We are at the east end of Santa Fe's massive yard at Barstow California early in the morning on May 6th, 1996. We watch two west bound Union Pacific trains as they head west. The UP runs on AT&SF with trackage rights, and gets on the railroad at Daggett CA. for its trip down Cajon Pass. The first clip is four UP SD40's with #3128 leading a coal train.
